I like Jillian Michaels exercise DVD’s, but this is not a yoga DVD, and people truly interested in yoga should stay away from it. It is more like trying to use yoga as marine boot-camp. Get Yoga Journal’s Strength and Toning. Yoga meltdown is toxic.

As a long-time yoga practitioner and a big fan of Jillian’s “30 Day Shred,” I have to say I was disappointed with this dvd. First and foremost, it doesn’t allow enough time to build heat or even work up a sweat. I did level 2 with no real heat built and no sweat worked up. There were a few moments of decent exertion that did not last long enough to make it a good workout.
Insufficient to zero time is given to explaining how to modify poses during the “cardio repetitions” portion of the yoga pose so that someone doesn’t hyperextend something (e.g. at one point in level 2 when your hands are pointed toward the back of the mat and your doing reps that way, you can easily hyperextend your elbow).
I think rather than having 2, short workouts that aren’t difficult, it would have been better to have just a single hour long workout with options to stop after 30 mins, options that are beginner, intermediate, and advanced and better explanation of how to modify poses if necessary throughout.

Weight loss Yoga? Not happening people. Lets look at the some science here.
So she says.. lose 5lbs in a week… since there is 3500 calories in ONE lbs… that is 17,500 calories in FIVE lbs. Even if you were super HUGE and couldn’t walk through your front door, you are not going to burn this. 180lb man will burn about 200 calories an hour doing yoga… so MAYBE you will get 300 with this…. but probably not.
Sure, go for it! You can do it. Plunk down your $$… just know…
YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO DO 87 HOURS A WEEK WORTH OF YOGA!!!!!
She makes me sick marketing this stuff this way.
FYI. I am certified personal trainer and a yoga instructor. This stuff ticks me off. She is using her ‘as seen on TV’ to swindle people out of their cash. You can add to her piggy bank if you want. What do you give someone who has millions… more money I guess… you should go by her diet pills too.. better act quick she is being sued for 5 million for false advertising. Looks like she is doing it again

I was greatly surprised at how much fun I had while doing this workout. I have only done Level 1 so far, and found it to be challenging and fun all at the same time. I am definitely feeling the soreness today! I am looking forward to doing this again today, which is saying a lot because I HATE working out. What’s also great is it’s only 30 minutes, so it’s very easy to fit into a busy schedule. I never do reviews, but thought this one worthy to recommend to anyone considering getting this dvd!

I’ve dabbled in yoga, pilates, P90X and other various work-out dvds over the years and this one is fun but challenging at the same time. I agree with some of the other reviewers, it is hard to see some of the variations of the poses at times. Also, she doesn’t do a great deal of verbal description of each pose or what is next, so you have to look at the screen, sometimes while in some awkward positions. I like that she does admit that she has a hard time with many yoga poses, it makes her a bit more human. I enjoy the relaxation and physical benefits of yoga, but also enjoy a good old fashioned work-out (not that traditional yoga isn’t challenging). I wouldn’t recommend this for people brand new to yoga, as she doesn’t have enough basic instruction to get into some poses properly, but if you already have some yoga experience and like to also get in some cardio, this is the dvd for you. The Level 1 workout is a decent challenge, Level 2 is a bit more advanced, but if you combine them, it is one heck of a work-out! I’m sure they don’t recommend it, but if you are feeling saucy and want to wear yourself out, doing both levels back to back will take care of that for you. But, the fact that each work-out is only 30 minutes, you can work in a work out into just about any schedule and feel as though you accomplished something that day. Her method of “repping-out” some of the poses is one of those ideas where you think “why didn’t I think of that.” After repping-out some of the poses and then holding them for 15 seconds, you are feeling the pose (especially, for me, the goddess pose and wheel), but it gives you something to work towards. I’m glad I added it to my rotation.
